Structural Engineering ManagerLocation: Duluth, MNReports to: Executive LeadershipDepartment: Structural EngineeringStatus: Full-timeKingfisher Recruiting has been hired by a coastal engineering firm to find a Structural Engineering Manager to lead its team in Minnesota or Wisconsin. This leader will oversee people, projects, technical quality, and client relationships across buildings, bridges, marine structures, and other infrastructure. The position combines hands-on engineering leadership with department planning, staff development, and multidisciplinary collaboration from concept through construction.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:· Lead and develop the structural engineering team through workload planning, mentoring, performance management, and recruiting.· Direct the analysis, design, inspection, and rehabilitation of structural systems while maintaining technical quality.· Serve as Engineer of Record when appropriate and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures.· Oversee scope, schedules, staffing, budgets, risk, and profitability across multiple projects.· Build client relationships and support proposals, fee development, interviews, and business development.· Coordinate with clients, contractors, architects, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams through construction.· Lead site visits and field investigations, review deliverables, and resolve complex technical issues.Minimum Qualifications:· Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program; master’s preferred.· 10+ years of progressive structural engineering experience with concrete, masonry, steel, wood, cold-formed steel, and precast concrete.· Active Professional Engineer (PE) license; ability to obtain Minnesota and Wisconsin licensure.· Experience leading engineers and technical staff, including mentoring and team development.· Strong project and financial management skills across scope, schedule, budget, resources, and quality.· Strong technical judgment and knowledge of structural codes, analysis methods, and construction practices.· Marine, waterfront, bridge, industrial, or heavy civil experience preferred.· Strong written, verbal, client-facing, and business development skills.· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as projects require.Compensation:Compensation is based on experience.
