Job Title: Teacher’s Assistant

FLSA Status: Part-Time and Non-exempt
Job purpose
The Teacher’s Assistant role supports classroom teachers by assisting with instruction and clerical tasks. In the classroom, teacher assistant responsibilities may include working with students who need additional instruction, preparing materials and equipment for activities, and discussing students' progress with their teacher.
Duties and responsibilities

Supervise and insure the safety and well-being of the children at all times, being alert for the needs and/or problems of the children as individuals and as a group.
Implement the daily program with the help of team member if applicable.
Assist lead teacher in decorating the room with bulletin boards, pictures, children's artwork, and other theme appropriate hangings.
Help prepare for two snack periods a day (one morning and one afternoon) and monitor while eating.
Carry out diaper changes or assist with potty goers depending on child and classroom.
Assist lead teacher with anything she may need in relation to curriculum/project/lesson preparation.
Keep classroom, storage rooms, and bathroom neat, clean and orderly.
Handle discipline promptly and in accordance with the stated policy on discipline.
Update communication app when able with pictures, daily information on kids, when possible or when requested by class teacher.
If lead teacher is off, you will be required to act as lead until they return filing in for circletime, completing projects and conducting a day of regular routine.
Attend continuing education program once a year and a fire safety-training course per school year (provided internally)
Remain current with first-aid and CPR certification (must be updated every 2 years, provided internally annually)
Be familiar with and follow all preschool policies (inc. classroom cleaning responsibilities).
Keep director and assistant director informed in advance of school needs.
Report to the Director or Assistant Director any special needs or problems of individual children.
Report to the Director or Assistant Director any cases of suspected child abuse or neglect.
Attend staff meetings.
May complete other duties and assigned
Requirements:
Skills and Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
Must be 18 years old or older
Experience with young children in a classroom or informal setting
Must display sophisticated writing and interpersonal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
Basic knowledge of arithmetic and algebra and their applications
Ability to complete assigned tasks in the time allotted without direct supervision.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Must be CPR certified or able to receive training certification within 30 days of hire
Must be able to pass a Background check
Working conditions
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Depending upon activities and season, may be required to be outdoors for regular, prolonged activities.
Possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids or tissues
Physical requirements
Must be able to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hours a day.
Must be able to sustain a high level of energy. Bend to perform various tasks numerous times throughout the day. Stoop, sit on the floor.
Have the ability to move from a seated position to a standing position promptly to respond to emergency situations.
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects.

This role has supervisory responsibilities over the Teacher’s Aide.
