This role supports Commerce Bank’s daily operations by performing payment processing tasks, resolving payment-related issues, maintaining accurate records, and delivering exceptional customer service.Work ScheduleMonday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PMEssential FunctionsProcess department files prepared for payment processingReceive, organize, and process customer and interbank payments, including ACH, wire transfers, instant payments, electronic fundsPost payment transactions in banking systems and verify proper allocation of funds to ensure timely and compliant processingExecute daily processing procedures, including balancing, reconciling, and posting transactionsMonitor payment queues and escalate exceptions or errors for timely resolutionEnsure critical deadlines are met and all files are delivered or received in a timely mannerResearch, analyze, and resolve payment discrepancies and exceptionsMaintain compliance with bank policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirementMaintain accurate documentation and audit trails within payment systemsProvide support and guidance to internal teams and customers regarding payment inquiries and issuesCollaborate with internal teams, such as banks operations support and product teams to streamline payment processesPerform other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills & Abilities RequiredBasic knowledge of bank operationsAbility to communicate effectively with correspondent banks and external partners as requiredAbility to apply analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and recommend improvements to payment workflows and minimize errorsAbility to stay current with payment processing systems, technologies, and regulatory changesMotivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple prioritiesInquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core ValuesIntermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook Education & ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience required. At Commerce, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation.
