This position requires a strong focus on safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work at heights in varying environmental conditions. The Blade Technician plays a critical role in maximizing turbine efficiency and minimizing downtime across multiple project sites.Location: Travel-BasedDepartment: RepowerReports To: Construction Manager or equivalentKey ResponsibilitiesPerform inspections of wind turbine blades using rope access, suspended platforms, or ground-based methodsIdentify and assess blade damage, including cracks, erosion, lightning strikes, and structural defectsExecute composite repairs, including fiberglass and epoxy work, in accordance with OEM specifications and company quality standardsPerform leading-edge protection (LEP) applications and blade coating repairs as requiredComplete detailed documentation of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities accurately and timelySafely operate and maintain tools, equipment, fall protection systems, and rope access gearSupport preventative maintenance programs designed to extend blade life cycles and improve turbine reliabilityCollaborate with team members, supervisors, and site leadership to prioritize and complete work efficientlyMaintain compliance with all company policies, safety requirements, and applicable industry regulationsTravel to various wind farm locations as required to support project and operational needsQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferredMinimum of 5 years of experience in wind turbine blade repair or composite repair in a lead capacityIRATA or SPRAT rope access certification, Level I or higher, preferred; willingness to obtain may be consideredGWO certifications preferred, including Working at Heights, First Aid, Fire Awareness, and Manual HandlingStrong understanding of composite materials, blade repair methods, and industry best practicesAbility to read and interpret technical manuals, repair procedures, and work instructionsComfortable working at heights of 300+ feet and in confined spacesValid driver’s license and acceptable driving record requiredSkills and CompetenciesStrong safety mindset and commitment to following established protocolsHigh attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanshipPhysical stamina and ability to perform work in demanding field conditionsStrong problem-solving and critical thinking skillsEffective verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentStrong organizational skills and ability to manage time effectivelyWork EnvironmentOutdoor work performed in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rainFrequent climbing and working at heightsTravel-based role with potential for extended periods away from homePhysically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials up to 50 poundsCompensation And BenefitsCompetitive hourly wage or salary based on experiencePer diem, when applicableMedical, dental, and vision insuranceRetirement plan optionsPaid time off and company holidaysOngoing training and certification opportunities
