The Unit Director leads the daily operations, safety, programming, and administration of a Boys & Girls Club site or school-site. This role ensures high-quality, outcome-driven youth development programs; supervises and develops staff; manages budgets and all grant requirements. This role fosters strong relationships with parents, schools, community partners, and local agencies. The Unit Director maintains a safe, positive, and welcoming environment that supports youth ages 6 -18 years old.Key Responsibilities ClubLeadership & Operations Direct daily Club operations in alignment with organizational policies and Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) standards • Maintain Club hours, facility cleanliness, and safe operating conditions • Oversee facility maintenance and ensure compliance with safety protocols - Report any facility issues or needs to Facilities Manager • Establish staff work schedules and member program schedules • Provide leadership, problem-solving, and conflict resolution for staff, volunteers, and members • Maintain a positive Club climate that supports youth development Program Development & Implementation • Plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-driven programs in education, recreation, health, leadership, and social development • Conduct sports leagues, recreation activities, and guidance-oriented programs as needed • Ensure programs meet all requirements and organizational goals • Nominate and support youth participation in the Youth of the Year program • Complete required BGCA Spillett University training courses Staff & Volunteer Management • Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor staff and volunteers • Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and evaluations • Ensure staff are equipped to deliver high-quality programs and uphold organizational mission and values • Hold bi-monthly Club staff meetings and attend all required organizational meetings Member, Parent & Community Relations • Promote Club membership through outreach, presentations, and community engagement • Build and maintain relationships with parents, schools, Housing Authorities, City Governance, and community based organizations as necessary • Communicate Club mission, vision, and program objectives to families and community partners • Address member issues and consult with parents/guardians as needed Administrative, Financial & Reporting Duties • Manage the site budget and assist with budget planning and fundraising efforts • Track daily attendance, program participation, and membership records using the Membership Tracking System and/or MyClubHub • Prepare reports for grants, administration, and program evaluation • Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with organizational policies and procedures Safety & Transportation • Maintain a safe environment for youth and staff • Ensure adherence to all safety policies, including supervision ratios and emergency procedures • Report all accident and incident reports within 24 hours to Director of Operations and President & CEO • Transport youth in Club vans when necessary - Must meet safety and licensing requirements • May be required to obtain a Class B license Relationships Internal: Daily contact with administration, staff, volunteers, members, and supervisors for communication, instruction, and problem-solving External: Contact with parents, schools, community groups, and partner agencies to support youth and resolve issues Qualifications Education & Experience • Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, sociology, or related field preferred • Minimum 3 years of experience working with youth • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or management experience • Knowledge of youth development principles required • Experience in recreation, education, leadership, arts, case management, or related fields is valuable Skills & Competencies • Strong communication (verbal and written), leadership, and organizational skills • Ability to manage multiple tasks and lead a diverse team • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior in a positive, supportive manner • Understanding of non-profit financial systems and program evaluation preferred• Bilingual skills are valuable Certifications & Requirements • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record • Must be 21 years old • Ability to pass a background check • Ability to lift materials, demonstrate physical activities, and travel between Club sites Physical Requirements/Work Environment • Must have own transportation and ability to drive to any Club site • Must be able to lift materials (binders, boxes) and demonstrate physical activities • Must pass background check • Involves indoor and outdoor environments, active engagement with youth, and occasional driving of Club vans Benefits • 80% employer-paid medical insurance • 3% Safe Harbor contribution after completing 12 consecutive months of employment and a minimum of 1,100 hours worked • Paid sick leave and vacation • FSA Medical and Care programs • Employee Assistance Program The Office of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County is located at 540 N Augusta St., Fresno, CA 93701 DisclaimerThe information presented indicates the general nature and level of work expected of employees in this classification. It is not designed to contain, or to be interpreted as, a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities, qualifications and objectives required of employees assigned to this job. Title: Unit Director (UD)Classification: Full-Time, non-exempt: 35-40 Hours per weekCompensation: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour, depending on experience Hours: Variable;
