Summary
The Controls Technician position supports improving production efficiency through process automation and uptime. Technician is involved with various aspects of improvement projects (including planning, development, implementation and documentation) and skill disciplines (mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, electronics and controls). Primary emphasis for this position will be electronics and controls.
Responsibilities:
Assist with mechanical, electrical and software design for process automation equipment
Troubleshoot new and existing equipment
Develop GUI for machine interface using Python on Raspberry Pi
Assist with C programming for microcontroller-based control systems
Project documentation: schematics, code comments, GIT
Equipment construction and repair, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic
Assist with PLC ladder logic development and modification
Assist with maintaining and operating 3D printers
Provide technical support to other departments
Other duties as assigned to support overall team effort
Knowledge & Skills Summary:
Proficiency with MS Office and similar office software
Ability to work independently, exercise judgment and show initiative
Strong aptitude for automation project work
Organized, goal oriented and able to focus on completing tasks
Beneficial skills include:
Familiarity with 3D printing technology,
Serial communication standards (RS232, SPI, I2C and CAN)
Mechanical design using Autocad or Inventor
Circuit design PCB layout and build
Hardware (schematics/drawings, wiring, soldering)
Software development (C, Python, and GIT)
Controls development (PLC, Microchip PIC, Raspberry Pi)
Work Schedule
8-hour shift
Monday through Friday

Job Type
Full-time, hourly
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree (or equivalent) in Electronics, Controls or Software studies
A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar capacity and similar environment
Physical Demands: The position requires good physical ability/mobility and vision (including close/distance, depth perception and color).
