Assistant Store Manager
TA Travel Center is a leading operator of travel centers that provides an exceptional customer experience across its gas stations, convenience stores, and restaurants. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Store Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will assist the Store Manager in overseeing daily operations, maximizing sales, and maintaining high standards of customer service and store presentation.Key Responsibilities:Store Operations:Assist in managing the daily operations of the store to ensure smooth and efficient processesParticipate in the opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and inventory managementEnsure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulationsOversee the cleanliness and organization of the store, ensuring a welcoming environment for customersCustomer Service:Ensure exceptional customer service is provided at all times and resolve any customer concerns effectivelyPromote a customer-focused culture that enhances the shopping experience and drives customer loyaltyTrain staff on customer service best practices and encourage positive interactions with customersTeam Management:Support the recruitment, training, and development of store employeesAssist in developing employee schedules to meet business needs and ensure adequate coverageProvide ongoing support, coaching, and feedback to team members to foster a positive work environmentInventory Management:Assist in managing inventory levels, including ordering, receiving, and stocking of merchandiseImplement effective inventory control measures to minimize shrinkage and optimize product availabilityHelp ensure that products are displayed according to merchandising standardsSales Support:Assist in achieving store sales goals and financial objectivesMonitor daily sales performance and recommend strategies for improvementParticipate in promotional activities and special events to increase store visibility and salesHealth and Safety Compliance:Ensure all store operations adhere to health, safety, and sanitation standardsAssist in training staff on workplace safety practices and emergency proceduresConduct regular safety inspections and address any hazards in the store promptlyAdministrative Duties:Assist the Store Manager with administrative tasks, including inventory counts, scheduling, and employee recordsPrepare and maintain reports on store performance, sales metrics, and customer feedbackExecute other duties and projects as assigned by the Store ManagerRequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent; previous retail or management experience preferredStrong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to motivate othersExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge of inventory management and retail operationsBasic understanding of financial principles and operational budgetingProficient in point-of-sale (POS) systems and Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as neededPhysical Requirements:Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting and carryingCapability to lift up to 30-50 pounds as neededWillingness to perform tasks involving physical labor (e.g., stocking shelves, cleaning duties)
