Job Description Maintenance Supervisor – 2nd Shift | Opelika, AL | Food Manufacturing | Senior LeadershipOversee day-to-day maintenance operations USDA-inspected beef patty manufacturing facility in Opelika, AL. Lead a team of skilled technicians, ensure safe and efficient equipment operation, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to support production goals and minimize downtime.POSITION OVERVIEW:• Title: Maintenance Supervisor – 2nd Shift• Level: Senior• Reports to: Eddie Nabors• Full-time position• In-person required (Opelika, AL facility)• No travel required• Vacant for more than 30 daysKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:MAINTENANCE LEADERSHIP:• Supervise daily maintenance activities to ensure timely completion of work orders• Respond rapidly to production breakdowns while maintaining safety and productivity standards• Schedule, assign, and monitor preventive maintenance for production machinery and support equipment• Lead and mentor a maintenance team of 10–20 employees• Foster skill development, teamwork, and performance excellence• Ensure all work complies with GSF standards and regulatory requirements (OSHA, USDA)• Manage spare parts inventory to minimize downtime and meet production schedulesPROJECT & BUDGET MANAGEMENT:• Design and coordinate in-house projects to improve productivity, efficiency, and reliability• Monitor and control maintenance budget to achieve cost containment targets• Track and report on maintenance KPIs: downtime reduction, cost savings, project completion rates• Identify and resolve anomalies or irregularities in equipment performanceCOMMUNICATION & COLLABORATION:• Communicate maintenance standards, expectations, and performance goals to the team• Partner with production and other departments to coordinate schedules and improve processes• Serve as point of contact for maintenance-related concerns• Escalate issues as necessary to support facility operationsTECHNICAL SUPPORT:• Review and interpret diagrams, blueprints, and technical documentation• Plan and execute maintenance work according to specifications• Perform other related and assigned duties as neededREQUIREMENTS:EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:• Up to 18 months of post-high school education in engineering, electronics, or related technical field (accredited vocational, technical, or junior college)• 3–6 years of relevant maintenance experience• At least 2 years in supervisory or leadership roleKNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:• Journey-level knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, refrigeration, pneumatic, boiler, and mechanical systems• Understanding of maintenance practices in manufacturing environment• Familiarity with OSHA and USDA regulations• Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and technical documentation• Strong project management skills with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines• Effective communication and leadership skills to coach, motivate, and develop team• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and basic computer applicationsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:• Ability to climb, crawl, squat, kneel, reach, and twist as needed• Lift, push, pull, or carry objects over 25 lbs• Work in general manufacturing environment with high quality and safetystandardsNICE-TO-HAVES:• Advanced technical certifications in relevant systems• Experience with production scheduling systems• Demonstrated cost savings or efficiency improvements in previous rolesBENEFITS PACKAGE:• Medical Insurance• Dental Insurance• Vision Insurance• Life Insurance• Retirement Plan• Paid Time Off• Equity opportunities• Extensive wellness benefits covering the whole person• People development and advancement opportunitiesCOMPANY CULTURE:• People First: Dynamic community where talents are celebrated and ambitions nurtured• Values Driven: Culture of innovation, integrity, and excellence• People Development: Continuous development programs to prepare for future needs• Philanthropy & Sustainability: Committed to making a difference through global sustainability efforts• Equal Opportunity Employer: Diverse perspectives valued; inclusive workplace where everyone thrivesLOCATION:• Opelika, AL 36801• In-person required; must report to facility• No relocation support noted• No visa sponsorships supportedIDEAL CANDIDATE:• Experienced maintenance supervisor in food manufacturing or similar production environment• Strong technical background with focus on reliability and continuous improvement• Excellent leadership and team development skills• Safety-conscious with OSHA/USDA compliance knowledge• Results-oriented with proven ability to reduce downtime and control costs• Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting skills• Collaborative approach to cross-departmental problem-solving
