DECK CAPTAIN - Coastal

This position requires a highly reputable and experienced individual who can effectively lead, manage, and support our crew.All Encore employees are committed to maintaining an Injury-Free Work Environment (IFWE), ensuring that every team member works safely and returns home to their families each day.Applications that do not provide sufficient dredge experience, detailed work history, job responsibilities, and accurate employment dates will be disqualified.Essential Functions (This is not all-inclusive)Upholds the Company's commitment to an injury-free workplace; leads and models safe work practicesFollows all safety rules and regulations as well as all company policies and proceduresWorks safely around machinery; observes and instructs others in proper equipment use; uses/wears all required PPEEnsures team members are provided a safe work environment and are knowledgeable of safe work practices and policiesReviews equipment logs, deficiency logs, maintenance logs, and leverman logs and performs follow-up inspections on a daily basis and notes results in appropriate safety inspection form and maintenance logsAssists in the planning and safe, efficient execution of all moves under the captains' supervisionSupervises the performance of the dredge, the crew, and the equipment to achieve maximum efficiency on both shiftsAssists with inventory and ordering all supplies and spare parts along with housekeeping of equipmentAssumes the duties of the captain in his absencePerforms duties as the safety director and is responsible for the safety of his crew and equipmentAssists the captain and the chief with planning and overseeing of repairs and maintenanceWorks directly with the chief, the captain, and the equipment manager to properly and efficiently make needed repairs and maintenancePerforms other duties as assigned by the dredge captainMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentThree or more years of Deck Captain experienceExcellent safety and mechanical skillsAbility to meet the physical requirements of the position as outlined in the Functional Job DescriptionMust be able to successfully pass all pre-employment screening (drug test, fit test) in addition to random drug and alcohol testingSchedule and CompensationWeekly pay, one week in arrearsStandard work hours are typically 12 hours daily; however, adjustments may be made depending on the operational requirements.This is an FLSA, Non-Exempt position, meaning any hours worked over 40 in the same work week will be compensated as overtime.Candidates who do not meet the minimum requirements will not be considered.This is not a VISA sponsored position, must be authorized to work in the US.Encore Dredging Partners, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
