Ultrasound Technologist
Job DescriptionWe are looking for a committed Ultrasound Technologist to join our client’s team in Lumberton, NC. Major responsibilities will include producing ultrasonic images and participating in special studies under the clinical direction of a Radiologist or Physician. You will also evaluate the quality of ultrasonic images, provide a safe patient environment, and participate in other necessary activities in support of departmental operations.EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:Completion of formal program in Ultrasound Certified with ARRT or ARDMS or obtained within 6 monthsMinimum Required: Graduation from a CAHEA (AMA) accredited radiography program, or its ultrasound equivalentCurrent registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS) with up to date continuing education credits, or ARRT with equivalent training or experienceBCLS certified; recertification required annuallyAssociate Degree in ultrasound technology or radiography (Preferred)ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS: Must demonstrate an ability to apply age-appropriate principles of communication and clinical practice relevant to neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Must demonstrate competence in the use of equipment and application of procedures before being allowed to perform independently.ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:Supervises: None. May provide guidance and oversight to radiography students, and new employees when participating in training. May provide input with respect to technical competence, but has no responsibility for personnel actions or decisions.Reports To: Radiologist(s) or Attending Physician(s) for clinical direction. Supervisor, Ultrasound for clinical, operational and administrative issues.Responsibilities Produces ultrasound images and examinations, abdominal scans and scans of other anatomical areasApplies AIUM guidelines and patient protection guidelinesUses other designated procedures to protect self and othersProvides emotional support, comfort, general assistance and information to patients.Considers non-clinical issues relevant to patient careDemonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care based on the age of the patients servedCommunicates, coordinates and collaborates with physicians and nursing staffDocuments to the patient recordOperates and maintains ultrasonic equipment, film processors, computers and other departmental equipmentAs assigned, provides instruction in the application of radiologic procedures to students and other employeesParticipates in quality control, quality assurance and quality improvement activitiesPerforms clerical, darkroom, film processing, patient transportation and other miscellaneous functions in support of departmental operations, if neededTakes an active role in self developmentPerforms miscellaneous activities, as needed, to support departmental operations and the provision of care
