Summary:The overall objective for the Quality Inspector is to ensure all materials and finished goods meet company, industry, and safety standards. Inspection work spans the entire production cycle, from inspecting incoming raw materials, in-process materials to verifying the final product before it reaches the customer. The quality inspector ensures that complex fluid delivery systems—ranging from precision nozzles to automated spray controllers—meet exact performance and safety specifications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned) This shall include but not limited to the following:Read and Interpret Specifications: Review blueprints, technical drawings, and engineering specifications to follow specifications and tolerances.Perform Dimensional Checks: Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and others to verify that parts meet specific dimensions and tolerances.Conduct Visual Inspections: Inspect coatings and surface finishes, examine materials and finished goods for surface defects like cracks, scratches, pits, or incorrect finishes.Perform Non-Destructive Examination (NDE): Perform Positive Material Identification (PMI) and coordinate other required non-destructive tests.Perform Product Audits: Perform random checks during the manufacturing process to catch errors or "process drift" early and reduce costly rework.Conduct Receiving Inspections: Verify that raw materials and components received from vendors meet all purchase order requirements and specifications. Review and verify Material Test Reports (MTR) and material authenticity.Document Inspection Results: Record inspection results, maintain inspection reports and scan records of all testing data, pass/fail decisions, material heat number and identified discrepancies (non-conformance reports-NCR) to ensure full traceability.Handle Non-Conforming Products: Identify, tag, and quarantine defective items to prevent them from being accidentally shipped or used in further production processes.Perform Functional Testing: Run operational checks (e.g., leak tests, torque checks, spray tests etc.) to verify that products perform as intended.Audit Welding and Fabrication Processes: Inspect products and review weld maps to ensure fabrication meets required specifications.Calibrate and Maintain Equipment: Regularly check and calibrate inspection tools to ensure they remain accurate and functional.Support Root Cause Analysis: Participate in problem solving efforts to help identify underlying issues and implement corrective actions.Evaluates customer complaints / returns, processes in ERP and moves as required.Performs Inspections:1st piece, incoming, In-process and final inspections. Assist with Quality Audits: Support audits by providing required documentation and demonstrating adherence to quality management systems.Ensure Safety Protocol Adherence: Monitor the workspace to ensure safety, environmental, and health regulations are strictly followed.Final Product Release Documentation: Reconcile all final inspection documentation, including test records and compliance certificates, prior to releasing the productsWork as back-up in refurbishment, material handling, maintenance and other areas as needed.Performs other tasks as required by management as needed.Supervisory Responsibilities:This position has no direct supervisory responsibility.Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. College level courses are a plus.Language Skills:            Must be fluent in English: Read, Write and Speak.  Ability to read write, speak German is a plus. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customer, members of the business community, and internal divisions/departments of Lechler Inc. Ability to effectively present information to others.Mathematical Skills:                                                Basic math skills addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, simple algebra, geometry, converting fractions to decimals, metric to inch, and simple trigonometry using a calculator.Reasoning Ability:                                                    Ability to interpret technical instructions, define problem, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Technology and Equipment:                                          Fluid Measurement – pressure, flow, distribution, spray angel, spray characterization, Linear and distance measurement, Temperature measurement, Torque. The ability to correctly use and accurately read precision lab measuring instruments including but not limited to pressure gages, flow meters, protractors, programmable digital readout, calipers, micrometers, drop gages, optical comparator, fixed gaging, thread gages, vision system, surface plate equipment, etc. Power tools, Hand tools, Material-handling equipment, Manual machines.Other Qualifications and Abilities:    Quality concepts terminology, Quality tools for problem solving, Mathematics and Measurement skills, and Acceptance sampling plans.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
