Data Platform Lead Data Architect (Infrastructure as Code)

Duration: 6+ months contract to hireJob Overview:  We’re looking for a hands‐on Senior Data Architect / Data Platform Lead to own enterprise data architecture, drive cloud data platform delivery, and translate analytics into business outcomes for client engagements. The ideal candidate combines strategic data architecture and governance experience with strong implementation skills in data engineering, cloud IaC, and BI/analytics within client‐facing consulting or delivery environments.Must have — Skills:Proven experience designing enterprise data architectures and implementing data strategies. Hands‐on experience with at least one major cloud (AWS, Clienture, or GCP) and modern cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery). Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform and/or Pulumi. Expert SQL proficiency and strong Python and Spark skills for data processing. Practical experience with dbt for transformations and Airflow (or equivalent) for orchestration. Deep understanding of ETL/ELT patterns, data modeling, and pipeline best practices. Experience building dashboards and visualizations using Power BI or Tableau and presenting to senior stakeholders. Client‐facing consulting experience with proven ability to translate technical work into business impact and advise senior stakeholders. Desired — Skills:Experience operating in multi‐cloud environments. Familiarity with data integration tools (Fivetran, Airbyte) and cloud-native ingestion patterns. Exposure to machine learning fundamentals and GenAI techniques (RAG, embeddings). Hands‐on experience with vector databases and rapid PoC tools (Looker, Sigma, Streamlit). Prior experience in pre‐sales, R&D, or technical discovery and client demos. Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance standards (GDPR, CCPA). Responsibilities:Define and implement enterprise data strategy and scalable architectures for cloud and hybrid environments. Lead design and delivery of end‐to‐end data platforms, including ingestion, transformation (dbt), orchestration (Airflow), storage (Snowflake/Databricks/BigQuery), and serving layers. Implement Infrastructure as Code for data platforms and environments using Terraform and/or Pulumi. Ensure data quality, governance, security, and lifecycle management in line with regulatory requirements. Mentor and lead cross‐functional teams of data engineers, analysts, and consultants; provide technical leadership and hands‐on implementation when required. Drive advanced analytics and AI/ML integration efforts, and collaborate with data science teams to operationalize models and RAG solutions. Build and deliver executive‐level dashboards and insights using Power BI/Tableau and present outcomes to senior client stakeholders. Act as a trusted advisor in client engagements, supporting technical discovery, solution design, and pre‐sales activities as needed.
