They must adhere to traffic and safety regulations while still making their deliveries on time. Drivers must hold a Class A commercial driver’s license and maintain their medical certification as required. Driving large vehicles can be difficult, so CDL drivers must be comfortable operating heavy machinery and have the hand-eye coordination to do it proficiently. They are also legally required to have strong eyesight and hearing and be in good physical health.Essential FunctionsLoading, unloading, and securing of equipment for transportSafely loads and unloads various types of equipment using proper tools and handling techniquesEnsures all cargo is balanced, tied down, and secured in compliance with company policies and federal safety regulationsConfirms that load documentation is accurate and equipment is protected from damage during transitOperates commercial vehicles to transport equipment on local and regional routesPlans efficient travel paths while considering traffic, weather, and delivery deadlinesMaintains reliability and adapts to schedule changes or customer needsCompletes thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and safety systemsIdentifies mechanical issues early and reports them promptly to prevent breakdownsKeeps accurate inspection logs and follows all safety protocols to ensure road readinessCommunicates professionally with customers to ensure a positive delivery experienceProvides clear updates on delivery timing, equipment condition, and special instructionsAddresses customer concerns promptly and courteouslyDemonstrates safe and proper equipment usage to customers at point of deliveryEnsures customers understand key safety features, operating procedures, and basic maintenanceMaintains accurate logs, delivery records, inspection reports, and hours-of-service documentationFollows all Department of Transportation regulations and company policiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Required Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GEDValid Class A driver’s license required; Medical certification2+ years proven experience with tractor-trailer driving preferredClean driving record with no moving violationsMust pass a background check and drug testAbility to work flexible shiftsComfortable maneuvering and parking a tractor-trailerAlert, focused, and detail-orientedPhysically and mentally fitStrong eyesight and hearingMilitary service will be considered in lieu of education/certification experience as applicable.
