About this jobSchedule: Part time, Tuesday & Thursday (2:10-3:45PM)Location: Various schools within Portland School DistrictPay: $35/1.5hrAbout UsUbuntu Basketball collaborate closely with schools districts to provide SEL (social emotional leaning) through fun physical activities during lunch recess and after school programs. Our curriculum offers enrichment activities and promote mental and physical well being for kids in grades 5-8.WHY WORK WITH UBUNTU BASKETBALLOur coaches receive extensive paid training and support enabling them to confidently lead students in fun and engaging activities that develop life skillsBuild skills and gain experience in an educational setting.Growth opportunities for career track progression and ongoing professional development.ResponsibilitiesMotivate 5-8 grade students through social-emotional learning and teach our basketball focused curriculumEnsure student safety during outdoor and indoor activitiesLead drills, games, and basketball scrimmages.Assist with homework and snack distribution.Effectively manage student behavior (up to 15 students)Serve as a positive real model to the students to build students self-esteemEmbrace professional development and work effectively with school staff and Ubuntu BasketballEnsure sports equipments safetyQualificationsHave knowledge of basic basketball fundamental skillsCandidate must have a background in sports and passion about physical activityHave experience working with elementary or middle school kids1 years of working experience in education, coaching, child development or any other child focused experience.Additional requirementsMust be eligible to work in the United States, complete and pass a background check.Must have a reliable transportationWilling to follow COVID-19 protocols outlined by the school.Candidate must be over the age of 18
