Associate Fire Alarm Designer
What to Expect
Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Associate Fire Alarm System Designer to join the Fire Protection Design team in Austin, Texas. The Gigafactory design team drives to create the factory of the future by overseeing the design of cutting-edge large-scale equipment and utility systems in support of highly innovative manufacturing processes at record speeds.
What You'll Do
Attend project meetings to ascertain the entire scope through the 30-60-90 process
Work with different design trades i.e.: Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, etc. to determine the full scope of each project throughout the design process
Produce fire alarm designs at the 90% mark for internal review with all trades
Issue fire alarm designs to team leadership before Issuing For Construction and permit
Model all designs in Revit so that they are visible in the 3D model for all other stakeholders
What You'll Bring
Basic understanding of fire alarm components to include but not limited to: Fire control panels, Smoke/Heat detectors, notification devices, wiring, Design Packages
Basic Electrical Understanding: Familiarity with low-voltage systems and wiring diagrams; electronics experience is preferred but not required
Code and Standards Awareness: Knowledge of fire safety codes (e.g., NFPA, IBC) to ensure designs meet regulatory requirements
AutoCAD Experience is preferred but not required. Ability to learn and be proficient with AutoCAD within 6 months is crucial
Software Adaptability: Ability to learn new tools such as Revit and Revitzo for Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Drawing and Coordination Skills: Ability to read, review, and produce floor plans, one-line diagrams, riser diagrams, and details, while coordinating with other disciplines to avoid clashes and ensure code-compliant installations
Advance Your Career: Pursue certifications like NICET Level I or II in Fire Alarm Systems to build expertise and credibility
