Job Title: High School English TeacherDepartment: English Language Arts (ELA)Reports to: Michelle Sorter, PrincipalPosition SummaryWe are seeking a passionate, creative, and dedicated High School English Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will foster a love for literature, sharpen students' critical thinking skills, and develop their ability to communicate effectively in writing and speech. You will be responsible for creating a classroom environment that is inclusive, intellectually stimulating, and supportive of diverse learning styles.Key ResponsibilitiesCurriculum & Instruction:Design and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards.Teach a variety of genres, including British and American literature, world literature, poetry, and non-fiction.Instruct students on the writing process, from argumentative essays to creative narratives.Student Assessment:Provide timely and constructive feedback on student work to encourage growth.Utilize formative and summative assessments to track progress and adjust instruction.Classroom Management:Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive classroom culture.Employ diverse teaching strategies to keep students engaged.Collaboration & Growth:Participate in departmental meetings and professional development workshops.Collaborate with the Special Education department to implement IEP and 504 accommodations. QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in English, Literature, or Secondary Education.Certification: Valid State Teaching Certification for Secondary English (Grades 9-12).
