This job is posted for Lightspeed via ParallelAbout the roleWe're an early-stage venture building a polished, production-grade consumer application backed by a real-time operations dashboard. The product integrates tightly with physical hardware and robotic systems, so the live, telemetry-driven experience is the heart of it. We're past the idea stage and moving fast toward an investor-facing demo, and we need a senior engineer who can own the full stack and ship something that looks and feels like a real product — not a prototype. This role is onsite in Northbrook, IL. It is not remote. Start is immediate. What you'll buildA cross-platform consumer app (responsive PWA) covering onboarding, account/profile, booking, payments, and a real-time live-status experienceA web-based operator console: scheduling, live system status, telemetry views, exception handling, inventoryA real backend serving both clients — auth, scheduling, payments, a job/state-machine execution layer, and a real-time event channelA simulation layer that drives realistic activity through the same APIs the hardware uses, so the system feels alive during demosRequired skillsYou should be strong in most of these:TypeScript across the stack; disciplined typing, schema validation at boundaries (Zod or similar)React + Next.js; comfortable building a high-quality, responsive PWANode backend (Fastify, Hono, NestJS, or Next route handlers) with Postgres (Prisma or Drizzle)Real-time systems: WebSockets / SSE, pub/sub, live data fanout — this is central, not a nice-to-havePayments integration (Stripe)Auth done properly: sessions, access/refresh tokens, rate limiting, MFA hooksA genuine eye for visual design and motion — Tailwind, a component system you can re-skin heavily (not ship default), and animation (Framer Motion or similar). We care about polish.Testing and CI: unit/integration plus end-to-end (Playwright), running in CIMonorepo experience (pnpm + Turborepo/Nx) is a plusRobotics / hardware experience (strongly preferred)You've previously integrated software with hardware, robotics, IoT, or industrial control systems — consuming live telemetry, modeling device/job state with explicit state machines, and building UIs over streaming machine dataYou're comfortable defining and working against a control-plane API contract and coordinating with a hardware/controls teamLogisticsOnsite, Northbrook, IL — required, no exceptionsImmediate startNDA required before any project specifics are shared. This posting intentionally omits details about the product and company.Contract or contract-to-hire; rate/duration to be discussed based on experience
