Weekend Hospice & Palliative Care Physician or Nurse Practitioner

Job DescriptionCompensation: (varies depending on years of experience)Physicians: $105–$115 per hourNurse Practitioners: $90 per hourWe are seeking a compassionate Physician (MD/DO) or Nurse Practitioner to provide high-quality hospice and palliative care coverage on weekends. This role is ideal for clinicians who are committed to supporting patients and families facing advanced or life-limiting illnesses while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.Position Overview:Provide weekend coverage, including rounding on existing patients and handling new admissions.Shifts available on Saturdays and Sundays, typically 8–10 hours each day.Focus on symptom management, patient comfort, and family support.Work closely with nurses, social workers, and chaplains to deliver holistic care.Key Responsibilities:Conduct rounds on hospice and palliative care patients, assessing symptoms and adjusting care plans as needed.Admit new patients referred for services during weekend shifts.Manage urgent clinical issues such as pain, dyspnea, agitation, or nausea.Provide emotional and clinical guidance to patients and families during difficult transitions.Collaborate with nursing staff and respond to calls for medical input.Document care accurately and efficiently in the EMR.Communicate with the weekday team to ensure continuity of care and seamless handoffs.Requirements:Physician (MD/DO) or Nurse Practitioner with acute care or hospitalist experience; fellowship in palliative medicine is welcomed but not required.Skilled at symptom management and decision-making in acute settings.Compassionate, sensitive, and comfortable supporting families at the bedside.Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.—Atlas Search is a tri-state area recruitment agency, connecting new graduates, Advanced Practice Providers, Physicians and Nurse Leaders to hospitals, clinics, multi-specialty groups, nursing homes, managed care companies, private practices, and healthcare start-ups.
