Van Driver/ Assistant Activities

428 Health Care - Duties and Responsibilities:The safe and efficient operation of assigned motor vehicleExtensive contact with patients/ residents of a nursing home facilityAssisting ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals enter and leave the vehicleEnsuring that passengers are safely seated inside the motor vehicleSecuring residents' mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairsKeeping a record of each bus trip and the residents who attendedDocumenting the mileage and time for each bus tripPerforming preventive maintenance functions such as checking lights, maintaining fluid levels, checking tire pressure, etc. and notifying supervisory personnel of need for further service or repairFacilitate group activitiesEncourage activity involvement and chart attendanceAssist in keeping activity supplies clean and organizedAssist with 1 on 1 activities, transport residents to and from activitiesAssist with outings and special events and other assigned dutiesQualifications:Diploma or GEDCreativityExperience with Alzheimers/Dementia and special needs is a plus.Ability to self motivateFlexible with schedule, occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays are required.Requirements:Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used to load, secure, and unload passengers from a motor vehicleSkill in the operation and basic maintenance of assigned motor vehicleAbility to find geographic locationsAbility to follow oral/ written instructions and keep a record of activitiesAbility to lift, maneuver, and support materials of up to 80 poundsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and staffPossession of a valid driver's licenseExperience:Six to 12 months of work experience operating, loading, and unloading a motor vehicleAny equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities stated aboveExperience working with individuals with disabilities or experience working in long term care a plus
