The successful candidate will be responsible for the comprehensive management of the Department of Public Safety, including the development and implementation of security and emergency response activities, policies, and procedures. This role demands a dynamic individual with a strong background in public safety, law enforcement, or community engagement, and a minimum of 5 years' senior management experience in a law enforcement setting. The AVP will also be tasked with fostering collaborative relationships across the campus, serving as the department's representative with external law enforcement agencies, and leading university-wide emergency response efforts. Applicants for the Assistant Vice President and Chief of Public Safety position at the company should hold a bachelor's degree or have more than 10 years' professional experience in a related field. A master's degree and a background in higher education, particularly at an urban institution, are preferred. The role requires a candidate with a deep understanding of and respect for the mission and values of the institution, as well as a commitment to the principles of a Jesuit education. Key qualifications include outstanding interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, experience in conflict resolution, and a proven track record in recruiting, retaining, and leading complex organizations.
