SUMMARY
The Child Care Assistant provides flexible support across classrooms and the front office as directed by the supervisor. This role assists teachers as a classroom floater, covers absences of child care staff, and supports clerical operations as needed to ensure smooth center functioning. The ideal candidate is adaptable, organized, and enjoys working with children and adults in a fast-paced early childhood environment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with two or more years full-time documentable experience in a preschool or child care center. Must be current on the Oklahoma Professional Development Registry through the Center for Early Childhood Professional Development, have Entry-Level Child-Care Training certification, and Infant Safe Sleep training. Training in occupational child care, CDA, or college courses preferred.

Ability to maintain a strict time schedule set by the Lab Manager/Director
Serve as a classroom floater, assisting in infant, toddler, preschool classrooms, and child care kitchen as needed
Support teachers with supervision, transitions, activities, and routines
Assist with maintaining a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
Aid individual children who experience difficulty in the group or who temporarily lose their physical or emotional control by using positive guidance and Conscious Discipline techniques
Help with classroom set-up, clean-up, and material preparation
Observe, record and report significant individual and group behavior.
Assist children with self-care activities.
Promote family style dining procedure.
Assume an equal share of housekeeping and laundry duties as needed.
Maintain attendance and school lunch records as required in the absence of the lead teacher.
Supervise and train Early Care and Education lab students
Assist with clerical duties as directed by Child Care Lab Manager/Director
Work cooperatively with all staff to maintain CV Tech policies, Child Development Center philosophy and goals, Oklahoma Department of Human Services Child Care Licensing regulations, Oklahoma QRIS standards, and NAC standards.
Participate in recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth.
Develop a positive relationship with the center team members, the children, the students, and the parents.
Demonstrates behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible at all times.
May be responsible for the cleaning and disposing of blood and bodily fluids, as well as other potentially infectious materials (OPIM) and for administering first aid and/or CPR as needed or if appropriate.

Demonstrate the following qualities: self-motivated, self-directed, follows directions, makes good judgements, creative, reliable, and dependable. Exhibits sincere interest in working with children and is knowledgeable regarding children's development and growth. Able to respond immediately to any emergency situation.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Upon selection and an offer of employment, the candidate must pass a physical examination to demonstrate the ability to perform the tasks required for this job. The physical will be performed at a medical facility selected by the district.
The candidate must also, upon offer of employment, have a clean criminal background check by OSBI or other appropriate agency.
The candidate must also provide proof of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the United States.
