Lead Full Stack Engineer

About Crown MacroCrown Macro is building a modern financial media and intelligence platform for self-directed investors and traders. We publish institutional-quality market analysis, operate a growing subscription business, and are developing software that brings together financial research, real-time market context, proprietary data, and actionable intelligence in a product built for the way investors consume information today. Our ambition is larger than another financial newsletter. We are building the foundation for a new kind of financial media company: part research desk, part software platform, and part live market network. The RoleWe are hiring a Lead Full-Stack Engineer to work directly with our CTO and take substantial ownership of Crown Macro’s technology platform. This is a senior, hands-on engineering role for someone who can move comfortably across the stack. You should be equally willing to design a database schema, build a customer-facing interface, debug an authentication issue, deploy infrastructure, integrate a third-party API, and make a practical product decision when the requirements are still taking shape. You will own meaningful systems from initial design through production operation. You will be expected to understand the business problem, propose a sensible technical approach, ship it, monitor it, and improve it.This is not a role for someone who requires a fully specified backlog or wants to work within a narrow technical specialty. It is for an experienced startup engineer who knows how to turn ambiguity into reliable software. What You’ll Work OnYou will help build and operate systems including:Crown Macro’s subscriber-facing web applicationAuthentication, account management, and subscription accessFree, paid, and premium product tiersStripe billing and subscription lifecycle managementFinancial research, market data, and analytics productsInternal publishing, administrative, and operational toolsEvent-driven integrations across our CRM, newsletter, analytics, and payment systemsData pipelines and services supporting market intelligence productsCloud infrastructure, observability, security, and deployment toolingResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain full-stack product featuresOwn technical projects from architecture through deploymentWork directly with the CTO to translate business priorities into technical systemsBuild reliable APIs, background jobs, integrations, and event-driven workflowsDevelop responsive, polished interfaces using Vue and NuxtDesign and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, queries, indexes, and migrationsBuild secure authentication, authorization, and subscription-access systemsIntegrate services such as Stripe, Auth0, Beehiiv, Brevo, analytics platforms, CRMs, and financial-data providersDevelop and operate AWS infrastructure, including serverless and managed servicesImprove automated testing, deployment reliability, monitoring, and incident responseIdentify fragile processes and replace them with simpler, more durable systemsMake pragmatic tradeoffs between speed, quality, complexity, and long-term maintainabilityEstablish engineering standards as the team growsHelp evaluate and mentor future engineering hiresWhat We’re Looking ForSignificant professional software engineering experienceExperience working in an early-stage or rapidly growing startupStrong TypeScript and JavaScript skillsDeep experience building production web applications across frontend and backend systemsStrong knowledge of relational databases, especially PostgreSQLExperience designing APIs, asynchronous jobs, webhooks, and third-party integrationsPractical experience operating applications in AWS or a comparable cloud platformA strong understanding of authentication, authorization, application security, and payment systemsThe ability to debug difficult production issues across application, infrastructure, and database layersSound architectural judgment without a tendency to overengineerStrong written communication and the ability to explain technical decisions clearlyThe ability to work independently and make progress with incomplete informationHigh standards for correctness, reliability, and user experienceParticularly Valuable ExperienceVue/Nuxt production experienceSubscription or membership productsStripe billing and webhook infrastructureAuth0 or other identity platformsFinancial technology, market data, trading systems, or financial mediaEvent-driven architecture and transactional outbox patternsAWS Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, Step Functions, and serverless systemsPostgreSQL performance tuning and production database operationsMonorepos and shared application packagesIonic, Capacitor, or mobile development using web technologiesAnalytics pipelines, experimentation, and attribution systemsBuilding internal tools for content, operations, or customer supportYou are likely a strong fit if you:Prefer ownership over narrowly assigned tasksCan move quickly without leaving chaos behindUnderstand when a simple solution is better than a theoretically perfect oneInvestigate problems across the entire system rather than stopping at the edge of your assigned layerCare about the business outcome, not merely whether the code was mergedAre comfortable disagreeing, explaining your reasoning, and committing once a decision is madeCan operate as a technical partner to a hands-on CTOTake production reliability personallyEnjoy building systems in an environment where the product and company are still evolving
