Job Title: Sr. Engineer – Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)Location: Chicago ,IL Contract Duration- Duration through: 05/01/2027Role OverviewWe are hiring a Senior EMC Engineer for a leading global healthcare / medical devices organization. This role will drive electromagnetic compatibility (EMC/EMI) across the full product lifecycle—from requirements definition and design support to testing, validation, and compliance.This is a high-impact opportunity for someone who combines hands-on lab expertise with strong design-phase involvement, ensuring products meet stringent global EMC standards.Key ResponsibilitiesDefine EMC requirements based on applicable CISPR and IEC standards and assess their impact on system designPerform EMC analysis during design phase and present compliance margins in design reviews and customer discussionsDevelop and execute EMI/EMC test plans, procedures, and validation strategiesWork with test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, receivers, amplifiers, and current probesLead and support system integration, verification, and validation testingCollaborate with internal teams and external labs (e.g., UL Solutions, Intertek) for compliance testingEnsure adherence to standards such as CISPR 11, IEC 61000 series, IEC 60601-1-2Perform root cause analysis for EMC-related issues and drive corrective actionsSupport development and maintenance of EMC lab equipment and calibration processesRequired QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering5+ years of experience in EMC/EMI testing, compliance, or designStrong knowledge of EMC standards including:CISPR 11IEC 61000 series (e.g., 61000-4-6, 61000-4-11, 61000-3-3)IEC 60601-1-2Hands-on experience with EMC test equipment and methodologiesExperience supporting design teams with EMC considerationsPreferred SkillsExperience with MATLAB, LabVIEW, or electromagnetic simulation toolsFamiliarity with test fixture design and specificationsBasic knowledge of statistical analysisExperience in medical devices or regulated healthcare environmentsWhy JoinOpportunity to work with a leading player in the healthcare/medical devices spaceExposure to end-to-end EMC ownership (design → validation → compliance)Work on high-impact, regulated products with global standardsCollaborate with top certification bodies like SGS and UL SolutionsInterested?Apply now or reach out to learn more about this opportunity.
