JOB DESCRIPTIONPosition: Power and Control Systems DesignerReports To: Engineering ManagerWork Arrangement: RemoteEmployment Type: Salaried, Full-TimeOverview:We are seeking a Power and Controls Designer with 3-10+ years of experience. This role requires collaboration with the design team, project managers, and clients to develop Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control (EI&C) design packages. Our team provides technical support for a diverse range of engineering projects related to municipal and industrial operations and safety.Responsibilities and Duties:Determine and specify electrical equipment, instrumentation, and controls necessary for monitoring, operating, and controlling mechanical, process, and electrical systems.Develop power system studies and the EI&C portion of P&IDs.Produce logic diagrams, control narratives (sequence of operations), and wiring diagrams.Create and maintain an instrument index.Interpret and apply relevant codes, job procedures, standards, and specifications.Collaborate with other design disciplines.Provide field assistance as needed.Oversee on-site installation, start-up, and operation of instrumentation and controls.Conduct inspections of equipment as required.Design PLC/HMI architectures, including Ethernet, ControlNet, and Remote I/O.Travel as necessary to ensure successful project execution and departmental goals.Develop control panel designs, power studies, EI&C site plans, schematics, and single-line diagrams, including load calculations.Select and specify instruments and control valves.Qualifications and Skills:Bachelor's or Associates in Electrical Engineering is preferred.A minimum of 3 years of experience with the National Electrical Code (NEC).At least 3 years of design experience, or equivalent experience without a degree.EIT or PE certification is a plus.Ability to produce designs for industrial facilities and manage construction projects.Proficient understanding of network layout and I/O diagrams.Intermediate to advanced computer skills with MS Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel.Experience with AutoCAD or Revit is required.PLC and HMI programming experience is a plus.Strong communication skills and the ability to solve problems on the spot.Knowledge of mechanical or chemical engineering is a plus.
