Employment TypeFull timeShiftDay ShiftDescriptionCertified Surgical Tech, CST/Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN – EndoscopyWhat You Will DoAssist the surgical team in Endoscopy by preparing operating rooms and supporting procedures under the supervision of the circulating nurseVerify correct surgical site, assist with patient transport as needed, and prepare the pre‑operative siteReview OR schedules, note changes to procedures, and gather required equipment, instruments, and supplies based on surgeon preference cardsPerform surgical scrub, don sterile gown and gloves, and participate in opening and maintaining the sterile fieldOrganize instruments, supplies, and equipment to ensure efficient workflow and patient safetyInstrument surgical cases, pass instruments to surgeons, and anticipate needs to support uninterrupted proceduresPerform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts in accordance with policyMaintain integrity of the sterile field and properly receive, label, and handle medications and specimensAssist with prepping and draping patients and gowning and gloving surgical team membersParticipate in time-outs and support patient safety throughout the intraoperative phasePrepare sterile dressings and ensure all equipment is functioning properly, reporting any malfunctionsSupport post‑procedure activities, including room turnover, cleaning and disinfection, disposal of contaminated waste and sharps, specimen processing, and assembly of instruments for Central SupplyCommunicate changes in surgeon preferences for supplies or equipment and assist with maintaining specialty preference cardsProvide age-appropriate, patient-centered care in accordance with MercyOne standards, policies, and all applicable regulatory requirementsScheduleMonday – Friday8 hour shiftsStart and end times depend on department’s scheduled proceduresStart times between 6 am and 8 amEnd times between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pmLater starts on ThursdaysCall rotation dependent on department need30 minute response timeMinimum QualificationsGraduate of an accredited school of surgical technology; completion of surgical tech apprenticeship or military program; graduate of an LPN program with Surgical experience; or equivalent experience to demonstrate competency. CST certification preferred but not required in Iowa. LPN license required if graduate of LPN program. No prior experience required.Previous endo/GI experience preferred.
