Position Summary: The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides comprehensive respiratory care to patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions. The RRT evaluates, treats, and manages patients requiring both invasive and non-invasive respiratory therapy modalities while ensuring safe and effective delivery of care in accordance with established hospital policies and national standards. Responsibilities: Assess, plan, and provide respiratory therapy treatments, including oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, chest physiotherapy, ventilator management, and airway care. Initiate, manage, and monitor invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation in critical care and acute care settings. Perform arterial blood gas sampling, analysis, and interpretation to guide treatment decisions. Respond promptly to cardiopulmonary emergencies, including code blue, rapid response, and trauma activations. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to optimize patient care plans. Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, treatments, and equipment usage. Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR). Ensure proper operation and maintenance of respiratory therapy equipment; troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues as needed. Follow infection control protocols and maintain compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. Participate in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives. Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree required). Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through NBRC. Current state licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (as applicable). BLS certification required; ACLS, PALS, and NRP preferred. Minimum of 1–2 years of recent respiratory therapy experience (hospital/critical care preferred). Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to manage high-acuity patients. Effective communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
