Shipping Helper

Shipping Helper Steel IndustryThe Shipping Helper supports daily shipping and material handling operations in a steel manufacturing/processing environment. This role is responsible for safely moving, staging, loading, and preparing steel products for shipment while maintaining strict safety and quality standards. Candidates must have prior experience working in a steel industry setting and be proficient with industrial material handling equipment.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with shipping and receiving of steel materials, including beams, coils, plates, and fabricated productsOperate sit-down forklifts to move, load, and stage steel materialsSafely operate overhead cranes to lift and position steel productsLoad and unload trucks while ensuring proper securing and documentation of materialsVerify material counts, dimensions, and shipping paperworkMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work areaFollow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and steel-handling best practicesCommunicate effectively with shipping, warehouse, and production teamsRequired QualificationsPrevious experience working in a steel industry environment (required)Proven experience operating sit-down forkliftsProven experience operating overhead cranesStrong understanding of steel material handling and safety proceduresAbility to read work orders, shipping documents, and basic measurementsReliable attendance and strong work ethicPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs with assistanceAbility to stand, walk, bend, and work in an industrial environment for extended periodsComfortable working around heavy machinery, noise, and steel materialsPreferred QualificationsForklift and Overhead Crane (required)Prior shipping or warehouse experience in steel processing or manufacturing (required)Work EnvironmentIndustrial steel facilityPPE required (hard hat, steel-toe boots, gloves, eye protection)This role may involve cross-training in other production areas, offering opportunities for advancement within the manufacturing or steel industry.NSC Staffing values our employees and is committed to offering meaningful employment in safe workplace conditions.
