Lifeguard - Grinnell, IA

Job Summary Ensure the safety of patrons through proactive lifeguarding and effective emergency response. Collaborate with the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities, Equipment & Events, the Head Lifeguard, and fellow lifeguards to address safety concerns and foster positive working relationships. Open and secure the Osgood Natatorium and assist with equipment operations as needed. Report any violations of the lifeguard handbook to the Assistant Athletic Director. Uphold college policies and comply with all applicable state and federal regulations. Key ResponsibilitiesLifeguard: Maintain the safety of the patrons in and around the poolRepresent Grinnell College by maintaining a professional attitudeCommunicate and enforce all regulations and pool rules in a personable and professional mannerCommunicate any potentially dangerous elements of the facility to the Head Lifeguard and Assistant Athletic DirectorAttend all scheduled staff meetingsParticipate in staff trainingsPerform patron surveillanceRemain alert and use all senses while guardingWork as a team with other lifeguards during special eventsRecord daily participation numbersTest the water, record results and report imbalances to the Head Lifeguard and Assistant Athletic DirectorSet up the pool for various activities such as laps, classes, etc.Be able to respond to an emergency and contact/activate EMSHandle all incidents in a manner appropriate to your trainingComplete all incident reportsAdministrative Duties
