Accountant

CIQA, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Accountant to join us as an independent consultant (Form 480) to modernize and automate our accounting operations using QuickBooks Online (latest version) and cloud-based tools. This role is ideal for professionals who enjoy process improvement, automation, and system optimization, not just routine bookkeeping. Role Overview You will lead the initial configuration and optimization of QuickBooks Online for a long-established service company transitioning from manual processes to automated, cloud-based accounting. All operations, employees, and clients are governed by Puerto Rico laws. Key Responsibilities Configure and optimize QuickBooks Online (cloud) from end to end Manage Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable Set up and automate workflows for: Employees (W-2) Independent consultants (Form 480) Clients and long-term suppliers Integrate online banking, invoicing, payments, and reporting Ensure compliance with Puerto Rico accounting, payroll, and tax requirements Document processes and recommend continuous automation improvements Mandatory Requirements (Non-Negotiable) Strong, hands-on expertise with QuickBooks Online (latest version) Proven experience with Puerto Rico accounting and tax regulations Fluency in Spanish (reading, writing, and professional communication) Experience supporting service-based companies Ability to work independently, remotely, and with high attention to detail Availability for approximately 3 or 4 hours daily, Monday–Friday Strong customer service skills, with the ability to follow up consistently and build long-term client relationships.
