Overview The Scale House Operator at Jones Lumber is responsible for operating weigh scales, scale computer and software data programs, data entry and record keeping. As first point of contact, the scale house operator will serve as our brand ambassador and communicate in a professional, courteous manner with our suppliers and drivers. Key Duties and Responsibilities Greet and direct all haulers and guests upon entry in a friendly manner Ensure that trucks are properly positioned on scales for accurate weights Inspect loads and query drivers as required Operate computer to process proper charges to be assigned for each load Maintain accurate records of each load Accurately record and report production data in ERP PO/SO Management Communicate properly with drivers and yard to ensure efficiency in flow of traffic Ensure safety of scale area Keep scale and ramps clean and free of debris Perform and assist in administrative and other clerical duties as directed Qualifications Basic computer knowledge Excellent customer service skills Excellent communication skills Ability to multi-task Previous scale experience and working in Epicor LumberTrack (or similar ERP) is a plus but not required Working conditions Must be able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipment.
