Lead Systems Engineer

Job SummarySeeking a Systems Engineering professional to lead the development and coordination of integrated electro-mechanical systems within advanced vehicle propulsion and driveline applications. This role is responsible for translating high-level product and customer objectives into detailed technical requirements, while ensuring alignment across mechanical, electrical, and embedded control domains. The position plays a key role in system integration, validation planning, safety compliance, and cross-functional technical coordination throughout the product development lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain system architectures, interface definitions, and functional boundary documentationTranslate customer and program-level objectives into detailed subsystem requirementsMaintain and manage requirements traceability using industry-standard requirements management toolsMonitor system performance, technical risks, and integration challenges that may affect program deliverablesCoordinate resolution of conflicting technical requirements between internal teams and external stakeholdersSupport functional safety activities, including hazard analysis reviews and alignment to applicable safety objectivesEnsure validation plans and verification activities properly address system and subsystem requirementsLead technical collaboration and issue resolution across software, controls, electrical, and mechanical engineering teamsReview system calibration strategies, software functionality, and integration approachesServe as a technical liaison with customers for system-level engineering discussionsLead development of system-level risk assessments and support failure analysis activities at subsystem levelDefine requirements for production testing and end-of-line validation processesConduct technical trade studies and risk evaluations related to design changes, timing, and program impactPrepare technical reports, engineering presentations, and status updates for leadership and customer reviewsSupport coordination between hardware and software development activities to ensure integration readinessParticipate in additional engineering initiatives and projects as neededEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical disciplineMinimum of 7 years of experience in systems engineering, mechatronics, or vehicle systems integrationRequired QualificationsExperience managing complex system requirements for integrated electro-mechanical productsStrong understanding of mechanical systems, electrical architectures, and embedded control strategiesBackground in vehicle systems such as propulsion, driveline, chassis, or related automotive platformsExperience using requirements management platforms such as Polarion, DOORS, or equivalent toolsKnowledge of communication protocols including CAN, LIN, or similar vehicle network standardsSolid foundation in systems engineering principles, analytical problem solving, and root-cause investigationAbility to lead cross-functional teams and drive technical decision-makingStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneouslyExcellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilitiesComfortable working in fast-paced product development environments with evolving prioritiesPreferred QualificationsFamiliarity with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC/EMI) principles and mitigation techniquesExperience interpreting wiring schematics, electrical interfaces, and connector systemsKnowledge of Automotive SPICE methodologiesUnderstanding of functional safety standards and hazard analysis processes for automotive applicationsExposure to embedded software development and control algorithm implementationKnowledge of vehicle dynamics, drivability, and system performance characteristics
