Journeyman Electrician (Industrial Electric Division)

Our Industrial Electric installs and maintains complex electrical systems in the power utility space. We work on a variety of substation projects and support much of the area’s electrical infrastructure. We also work on other commercial projects throughout western New York. Location: Rochester, NY Position Overview: The Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of electrical control systems and associated equipment in medium-voltage substations and other commercial environments. This role will help design and implement complex, unique solutions with our customers. Safety, reliability, and adherence to industry best practices are paramount in this critical role. Duties & Responsibilities: Install, maintain, and troubleshoot substation control systems, including: Protective relays SCADA systems RTUs (Remote Terminal Units) Control panels and wiring Meters and instrumentation Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals Perform routine inspections, testing, and calibration of control equipment Identify and diagnose malfunctions in control systems and components Repair or replace faulty equipment and components Complete detailed work orders and maintain accurate records Adhere to all safety regulations and lock-out/tag-out procedures, as well as adhering to customer specific standards.
