Financial Controller
Consult are partnered with a globally leading manufacturer within the dental space. A Private Equity backed innovator within the space they are undergoing global expansion and are looking to hire a Financial Controller.The Financial Controller – US will take full ownership of accounting integrity, financial reporting, and ERP-driven finance processes for the US operations. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with US GAAP while supporting a fast-growing MedTech/dental implant business. The Controller will work closely with US leadership, VP Finance & Operations and global finance at the Swiss/European headquarters to stabilize and scale the finance function, improve data quality and reporting reliability, and support operational decision-making.The role requires a hands-on controller with strong accounting fundamentals, experience in MedTech or dental/medical devices, and the ability to partner closely with commercial leadership.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Accounting (Core Ownership)Own US entity accounting and financial reporting in accordance with US GAAPLead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, including close calendar and checklist disciplineMaintain full ownership of the general ledger, accruals, prepaids, provisions, revenue recognition and cut-off, inventory accounting, and COGSEnsure accurate intercompany accounting and reporting with Swiss/EU headquartersEnsure accurate and timely financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)Own balance sheet reconciliations and full account substantiationEnsure audit-ready documentation and high-quality supporting schedulesInventory, COGS & Operational FinanceEnsure accuracy of inventory valuation, stock movements, landed costs, tariff surcharges and COGSReconcile inventory between ERP, warehouse, and financial reportingSupport and improve processes for returns, credits, reserves, distributor and customer transactions, and margin analysis by product, channel, and customerPartner with operations and supply chain to improve inventory controls and data integrityERP, Systems & Process Improvement (Critical Focus)Act as US finance lead for Microsoft Dynamics (NAV / Navision / Business Central)Ensure accuracy of financial data structures, inventory and cost flows, and reporting logic and outputsIdentify and resolve data inconsistencies, process gaps, and reporting weaknessesImprove automation, reporting quality, and process efficiencySupport ERP upgrades, optimization, and scaling initiativesBudgeting, Forecasting & Financial AnalysisSupport development of annual budgets and rolling forecasts for the US businessPerform variance analysis (sales, margins, OPEX) with clear, actionable insightsSupport pricing, margin analysis, and product profitability, and commercial decisionsMonitor cash flow, working capital, and receivablesCompliance, Controls & AuditEstablish and maintain internal controls, accounting policiesCoordinate external audits, tax filings, and statutory reportingEnsure compliance with US GAAP, tax requirements, and corporate governance standards Support intercompany accounting,transfer pricing documentation Business Partnering & Commercial SupportAct as finance partner to US leadership, sales, and operations teamsSupport customer contract reviews, payment terms, and credit risk assessmentProvide clear, fact-based financial insights to support decision-makingSupport scaling of US operations in alignment with global strategyExpected Impact (First 6-12 Months)Stabilize and professionalize month-end close and reporting timelinesImprove balance sheet integrity and reconciliation qualityEstablish reliable inventory, COGS, and margin reportingIncrease accuracy and transparency of financial dataStrengthen ERP (Dynamics) usage, structure, and reporting outputsImprove audit readiness and documentation standardsQualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field5+ years of progressive accounting / controlling experience Experience in product-based businesses (MedTech, dental, medical devices, distribution) strongly preferredStrong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reportingDemonstrated experience in month-end close ownership, balance sheet reconciliation, inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and cost controlERP & Systems Requirements (Critical)Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Business Central / Dynamics NAV / Navision requiredProven ability to work directly in ERP systems and improve data quality, reporting accuracy, and process effectivenessCPA or CMA preferred but not requiredKey CompetenciesStrong analytical and accounting skills with high attention to detailHands-on, execution-focused mindset suited to a growing US MedTech organizationAbility to identify and resolve inconsistencies and control weaknessesProfessional skepticism and willingness to challenge assumptionsAbility to work independently while collaborating with international stakeholdersClear communication with both financial and non-financial leadershipProactive mindset with focus on accuracy, compliance, and scalability
