Senior Azure Engineer

Azure Cloud Engineer (6+ Month Contract | Remote)We are seeking a hands-on Azure Cloud Engineer to take primary ownership of our Azure environment. This role is Azure-first, with light DevOps responsibilities (~10%).Important: We are not looking for a DevOps engineer who dabbles in Azure — we need a strong Azure engineer who can support DevOps workflows when needed.Key ResponsibilitiesAzure Environment Management (Primary Focus)Own and manage the Azure cloud environment end-to-endAdminister and support:App Services & App Service PlansAzure Monitoring & Log Analytics WorkspacesLogic Apps & Function AppsVirtual MachinesAzure Redis CacheIdentity & Access Management (RBAC)Azure Key VaultsConfigure governance policies and enforce Azure best practicesManage client secrets, SSL certificates, and custom domains (DNS alignment)Perform Microsoft-required updates and ongoing maintenanceIdentify and remediate vulnerabilities from security scansIncident Response (Critical)Act as the escalation point / last line of defense for production issuesTroubleshoot and resolve critical incidents across environmentsProvide support coverage:WeekdaysAfter-hoursWeekends (as needed)DevOps & Release Management (~10%)Manage Azure DevOps and 700+ release pipelinesAutomate operational tasks (e.g., app service restarts)Govern and approve production releasesSupport:Weekly/monthly releasesEmergency hotfix deploymentsEnforce source control and release governance standardsPerform rollback of failed deployments when necessaryCollaborate with Development & QA teams across the SDLCAzure Cost OptimizationContinuously optimize Azure spend:Right-size resourcesIdentify underutilized assetsManage reservationsEnsure proper resource tagging for reportingProvide monthly cost analysis and reportingDisaster Recovery & InfrastructureMaintain and improve disaster recovery plansSupport Infrastructure as Code initiatives (Terraform preferred)Ensure backup and resiliency strategies are in placeRequired SkillsStrong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (core requirement)Deep understanding of:Azure App Services, Functions, Logic AppsAzure Monitoring & Log AnalyticsRBAC / Identity ManagementKey Vault, Networking, and Security best practicesExperience managing production environments at scaleAbility to troubleshoot complex cloud and application issuesNice to HaveExperience with Azure DevOps pipelinesAutomation scripting (PowerShell, CLI, etc.)Terraform or other IaC tools
