Accounting Specialist

Accounting SpecialistUnder the supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Specialist applies bookkeeping principles to the maintenance of the accounting records: Print review W-2's at year end Reconcile fringe benefits monthly Updates Payroll information on annual budget sheets Verify records on PTO accumulation on a monthly basis Receive and review time and attendance reports. Verify accuracy of the computation and ensure proper approval by supervisors on a biweekly basis. Address issues and questions regarding payroll from employees Prepare payrolls, including payroll journal, monthly & quarterly reports Compile all payroll and fringe benefits information for reimbursements Review all new employees' information and check to see if it was entered correctly into our payroll system Create AP Voucher for all employee reimbursements and deductions Create API and enter health, dental, life and 401K into the accounting software Prepares memorandums to communicate garnishment deductions to HR and responds to appropriate garnishment authority The Accounting Specialist will perform the other Accounting duties when staff are unavailable. Update Standard Operating Procedure as needed Administration has the authority to assign additional duties as seen fit for the benefits of the organization Qualifications AA/AS in Accounting or related field may apply with accounting experience. Experience in a professional office environment. Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Must be able to effectively communicate information and ideas both orally and in writing. Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices. Ability to sit for extended periods of time Salary:See the most recent salary schedule. FLSA Status:Non-Exempt Monday through Friday 40 hours per week
