Job Title:Technologist Specialty: MRI Facility: Exeter Hospital - MRI Location: Exeter NH Shift: Day/nights Guaranteed Hrs.: 40 hrs. (8 hrs/day) Contract Position Job Summary: As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures to help diagnose and evaluate various medical conditions. You will work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality imaging and patient care. Key Responsibilities: MRI Scanning: Operate MRI equipment to capture detailed images of the patient's internal organs, tissues, and structures. Adjust imaging parameters and equipment settings based on patient needs and specific diagnostic requirements. Ensure accurate positioning and alignment of patients to obtain the best possible images. Patient Care: Prepare and explain the MRI procedure to patients to alleviate anxiety and ensure cooperation. Assess patients’ health history and screen for any contraindications to MRI, such as metal implants. Provide comfort and support to patients during the imaging process. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to protect patients and staff from unnecessary radiation exposure and other risks. Maintain and monitor MRI equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety standards. Follow infection control and patient privacy policies, including HIPAA regulations. Image Quality and Analysis: Review MRI images for quality and clarity; make necessary adjustments or retake images as needed. Collaborate with radiologists to discuss images and preliminary findings. Ensure accurate documentation of imaging procedures, patient information, and any issues encountered. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of MRI equipment. Report any malfunctions or issues with MRI machines to the appropriate maintenance personnel. Maintain an organized and clean work environment, including imaging rooms and equipment. Professional Development: Stay current with advancements in MRI technology and imaging techniques. Participate in continuing education and training opportunities to enhance professional skills. Qualifications: Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field. Completion of an MRI technologist certification program. Licensure/Certification: Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent. State licensure as required. Experience: Previous experience as an MRI Technologist preferred but not always required. Familiarity with MRI procedures and safety practices. Skills: Strong technical skills and knowledge of MRI equipment. Excellent patient care and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team and handle stressful situations with professionalism. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move patients or equipment as needed. Capability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks. Work Environment: MRI Technologists work in healthcare settings such as hospitals, imaging centers, and clinics.
