Job Description: Primary EngineerLocation: Stockton-on-TeesRegion: Teesside, UKSalary: CompetitiveFlexibility: Office-BasedWe are seeking a Primary Design Engineer with experience in Transmission and Distribution (T&D) projects to join our growing team. The base location will be at our office in Teesside and is expected to involve occasional travel supporting customers in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Manufacturing and Energy sectors. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development of high-voltage substations and transmission systems, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and technically sound solutions for our clients.Key ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited ToDevelop detailed primary (physical) designs for substations and transmission systems (typically 11kV to 400kV)Create and review layout drawings, general arrangements, and equipment plans, including transformers, circuit breakers, isolators, and busbarsPerform technical calculations related to clearances, grounding, and equipment sizingCoordinate with civil, structural, and secondary (protection & control) teams to ensure integrated designSupport in the preparation of technical specifications, bill of materials, and construction packagesParticipate in client meetings, site visits, and provide technical support during construction and commissioningEnsure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirementsAssist in the tendering process and provide engineering input for proposals
