AP Construction is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Superintendent to support the on-site management of multi-family residential construction projects (e.g., apartment communities, condominiums). This role assists the Project Superintendent in overseeing daily field operations, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. The position involves frequent travel to various project sites within the region to coordinate activities and support project teams.
Responsibilities
Assist the Project Superintendent in daily supervision of on-site construction activities, including coordinating subcontractors, labor, and material deliveries.
Monitor progress against project schedules; help develop and maintain look-ahead schedules and update project timelines as needed.
Enforce site safety protocols, conduct regular safety meetings, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
Perform quality control inspections to verify work conforms to plans, specifications, and building codes.
Assist with site logistics, including mobilization, temporary facilities, material staging, and site cleanliness.
Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve field issues promptly.
Maintain daily reports, photos, and documentation of site progress, issues, and resolutions.
Support punch list completion, project closeout, and turnover to owners/clients.
Travel regularly to assigned project sites to perform duties, conduct inspections, and provide on-site support.
Participate in pre-construction activities, such as plan reviews and subcontractor pre-mobilization meetings, as directed.
Qualifications and Skills
2+ years of experience in construction field supervision, preferably on multi-family, residential, or commercial projects.
Familiarity with construction methods, scheduling (e.g., Microsoft Project or Procore), and reading blueprints/plans.
Strong understanding of safety regulations (OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred).
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills for coordinating with diverse teams.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing project needs.
Physical ability to perform site work, including walking job sites, climbing ladders/scaffolding, and lifting up to 50 lbs in various weather conditions.
Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable personal vehicle (required for travel between sites).
Proficiency in basic computer skills (e.g., email, Microsoft Office, construction software).
High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in construction management or related certifications a plus.
