Position Overview
The 3-5 STEM Microschool Teacher Leader will be responsible for delivering high-quality, personalized instruction to young learners while implementing the Burbrella Way of Teaching. This role includes designing and executing personalized learning plans, maintaining effective communication with parents and stakeholders, and managing classroom/pod administrative duties. The Teacher Leader will report to the School Support Administrator.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching and Instruction:
Develop and implement personalized learning plans tailored to each student’s needs, interests, and abilities.
Utilize the Burbrella Way of Teaching (skills, competency, and inquiry based learning) to create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment.
Integrate STEAM, nature-based, play-based, and project-based learning into daily instruction.
Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting learning plans as needed to ensure academic growth.
Curriculum Development:
Designing or adapting curriculum to fit the needs and interests of the students in their pod.
Ensuring alignment with educational standards and goals of the microschool network.
Instructional Delivery:
Facilitating engaging and personalized learning experiences for students.
Implementing innovative teaching methods and strategies to support student growth.
Assessment and Feedback:
Assessing student progress and understanding through various assessment methods.
Providing timely and constructive feedback to students to support their learning journey.
Classroom Management:
Establishing and maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Managing day-to-day operations, routines, and transitions within the pod.
Student Support and Guidance:
Addressing individual student needs, including academic, social, and emotional support.
Collaborating with parents or guardians to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
Collaboration and Professional Development:
Collaborating with other microschool guides and network leaders to share best practices and resources.
Participating in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Community Engagement:
Building relationships with students' families to foster a supportive learning community.
Representing the microschool network positively in interactions with external stakeholders.
Data and Reporting:
Maintaining accurate records of student progress and attendance.
Providing data and insights to network leaders to support decision-making and program improvement.
Innovation and Adaptation:
Embracing innovation and adapting teaching practices to meet the evolving needs of students and educational trends.
Contributing to the continuous improvement of the microschool model through feedback and reflection.
Classroom/Pod Management:
Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages creativity and exploration.
Manage classroom resources, including materials, technology, and supplies.
Organize and oversee classroom activities, field trips, and special projects.
Communication and Collaboration:
Maintain open, regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school events.
Facilitate parent-teacher conferences, providing detailed updates on student development and learning goals.
Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and the School Support Administrator to support the overall educational program.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and behavioral reports.
Prepare and submit progress reports, lesson plans, and other required documentation in a timely manner.
Participate in professional development opportunities and staff meetings.
Community Engagement:
Foster strong relationships with parents, guardians, and community stakeholders.
Actively participate in school events, open houses, and community-building activities.
Promote the values and mission of Burbrella Microschool within the local community.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; teaching certification preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in early childhood or elementary education.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement personalized learning plans.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with educational technology and virtual learning platforms.
Passion for innovative, student-centered teaching methodologies.
Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and evolving educational environment.
