Crane Service Manager

Job Summary:This role manages service technicians, schedules work, ensures compliance with OSHA and ANSI standards, and drives operational efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction. The manager serves as a technical and leadership resource, ensuring high‑quality service delivery, profitability, and continuous improvement within the crane service department.Duties and Responsibilities:Customer Service – Maintain long-term customer relationships and service contracts. Serve as the primary contact for customer issues, provide repair recommendations and technical support. Maintain and address urgent repair needs to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity. Expand customer relationships via sales and service-related appointments.Operations Management – Daily operations include scheduling and assigning work activities based on customer needs and workforce availability. Ensure timely completion of inspections and repairs. Coordinate parts, tools, and equipment required for service jobs.Work Environment – Combination of office and field operations, interaction with workforce, customers, vendors and management. On-call support and emergency service coordination. Must be able to make customer visits for service-related information gathering while occasionally working at heights via scissor/man lift.Safety & Compliance – Ensure workforce follows company safety policies, industry standards and regulations.Administrative Duties – Prepare service quotes, estimates, and inspection reports in a timely manner, process work orders, monitor labor hours, job costs, and maintain service records. Monitor service performance and productivity of technicians and support staff. Provide technical guidance and training. Initiate personnel actions, such as hires, discharges, or disciplinary measures.Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate Supervisor and/or Manager, which may be outside the scope of responsibilities noted above.Minimum Qualifications:High School education or equivalentFive (5) years progressive work experience in Crane Service Industry or similar scope of workKnowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation and coordination of people and resources.Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.Judgment and Decision Making — Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.Monitoring — Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals to make improvements or take corrective action.Time Management — Managing one's own time and the time of others.Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.Disclaimer:The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
