Substitute School Bus Drivers 2025-2026 (Amargosa, Beatty, Pahrump, Round Mountain and Tonopah Areas

Substitute School Bus DriverTransportation Office On-call Funding Source: General Fund Hourly Rate: $20.10 per hour Job Goal: To provide safe and efficient transportation for District students. During the time the prospective substitute is in training to obtain the NV Class B CDL with passenger endorsement and NV Dept. of Education endorsement, NCSD will pay the hourly rate of $20.10. Total training time for class and driving is 40 hours. In addition, NCSD will reimburse prospective substitutes for the cost of the license application fees and the physical exam. In exchange for the above, the prospective substitute bus driver will sign a contract agreeing to provide substitute bus driving services to NCSD for the period of 24 months. Substitute positions may become full-time depending upon need. Qualifications: Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; Must pass a reference check, mandatory fingerprint background check, and drug and alcohol testing; Must be at least 21 years of age; Must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records; Must be physically qualified to drive a school bus in accordance with FMCSA Physical Qualifications and Examinations; Must have a current, valid Class B CDL license issued by Nevada or a border state with a Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsement; Must provide a 10-year driver DMV printout; Must provide Nye County School District with a list of all violations as required by FMCSA 391.27; and Must not have been disqualified to drive a school bus under FMCSA 391.15 Disqualifications of Drivers. Working Conditions: Will be driving NCSD school buses/vehicles and provided with supplies necessary to carry out the functions of the position description.
