Utility LocatorHBK Engineering is seeking a Utility Locator to work in Warwick, Rhode Island. This role involves locating and marking underground facilities using various industry tools, standards, and methods including locating devices and utility maps. The position requires working in all weather conditions to record documentation to identify errors and omissions while verifying the location of all client facilities within specified dig extents and serving as a firm/client liaison in utility locating operations.What You'll DoLocate and mark underground facilities using various industry tools, standards, and methods including locating devices and utility mapsCompare real-world conditions to record documentation to identify errors and omissions for accuracy verificationVerify location of all client facilities within specified dig extents to ensure comprehensive coverageExamine and investigate all damages within their purview, creating all required documentation for compliance and record-keepingWatch and protect client facilities within a given area as directed by client for safety and securityUnderstand contractor's means and methods for subsurface installations to support project coordinationServe as firm/client liaison to facilitate communication and project coordinationReview design drawings created by others to ensure accuracy and completenessUse and perform basic maintenance of industry standard locating equipmentMove about on construction work sites, public streets, and parkways safely and efficientlyCommunicate effectively with citizens, company representatives, contractors, and customersMaintain organized documentation and reporting systems for all locating activities.What You'll BringHigh school diploma or GED certificateValid driver's license in good standingExperience working outdoors in all weather conditions is requiredPrevious underground utility locating experience preferredAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong communication and interpersonal skills to work smoothly with citizens, company representatives, contractors, and customersGood organizational skills to handle many varied tasks simultaneouslyKnowledge and understanding of safe worksite practicesExperience with construction and installation of below-grade infrastructureExperience working within and utilizing existing utility standard designsExperience with complex urban underground utility infrastructureExperience serving as firm/client liaisonExperience reviewing design drawings created by othersExperience in use and basic maintenance of industry standard locating equipmentExperience using basic communication and tech devicesPhysical capability to move about on construction work sites, public streets, and parkwaysAbility to lift up to 75 poundsAbility to stand, walk, kneel, or sit for extended periodsHand-eye coordination necessary to operate computers and various measurement, locating, and testing instruments.What You'll GetComprehensive entry-level underground utility locating experienceProfessional development in industry-standard locating tools, methods, and equipmentTraining in safe worksite practices and construction site operationsExperience with complex urban underground utility infrastructureClient liaison responsibilities for professional communication and coordinationHands-on training with locating devices, utility maps, and documentation systemsField experience on construction work sites and public infrastructure projectsClear career progression pathway within the HBK Organization's Locating TrackOpportunity to develop expertise in utility standard designs and subsurface installationsFoundation for advancing to senior locating and utility coordination roles.Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability and employer paid life insurance.
