VLF Electronics Technician II
Description***This Position is located in Lualualei, HI***Positions Primary Function:Apply comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting technical manuals or similar documents. Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence and in selecting tools and testing instruments.Receives technical guidance, as required from Supervisor or Lead Electronic Technician III and work is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices. Provide technical guidance to junior technicians.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive maintenance on ground radio communications systems and associated equipmentInspect equipment at scheduled intervals to assess operational readinessTroubleshoot and isolate malfunctions using system diagnostics, test equipment, and schematic analysisRepair, overhaul, and modify RF communications systems, including transmitters, receivers, and antenna interface equipmentReplace defective components and perform operational checksTune, adjust, align, and calibrate equipment for optimal performanceFabricate and install antenna systems and transmission linesTest repaired components using bench setups and diagnostic equipmentConduct corrosion control proceduresMaintain accurate maintenance and inspection records, including logs and data collection formsRecord meter readings and equipment performance dataCollaborate with management and customers to resolve technical issuesSupport additional duties as assignedWork EnvironmentWork performed both indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditionsTravel may be required; must be prepared for location-specific weather and attire requirementsRequirementsCompletion of U.S. Navy Electronics Technician "A" or "C" School, or equivalent training from an accredited technical institution (documentation required)Minimum of 3 years of general electronics experience in preventive and corrective maintenance of complex systemsAt least 1 year of experience supporting HF, LF, VHF, UHF, or ELF RF communication systems or similar environmentsPreferred QualificationsExperience with high-power vacuum tube systemsFamiliarity with NEC ET-1415, NET-1420, or AFCS 2E1X3 programsStrong working knowledge of:RF theory and radio communications principlesTransistors, solid-state components, and vacuum tube technologyDigital electronics and signal processingTechnical orders, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematicsExperience using electronic test equipment and applying diagnostic methodologiesPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift and carry:50 lbs. horizontally up to 50 feet35 lbs. vertically up to 50 feetAbility to work rotating shiftsAdditional RequirementsMust complete Navy 301 Maintenance Person PQS within the first 90 days of employmentAbility to obtain CompTIA Security+ certification (future requirement)Equal Opportunity Employer
