Staff Full-Stack Engineer
About the companyMy client is developing autonomous AI systems designed to operate safely in healthcare settings. Their agents function as digital clinicians and care coordinators that support patients throughout the care lifecycle, including intake, triage, navigation, follow-up care, symptom monitoring, and medication adherence. These systems maintain contextual memory across sessions and act within clearly defined clinical boundaries.Their platform is measured by safety, continuous improvement, and patient impact, not just feature delivery. Agents operate within validated scopes, with explicit escalation paths and human handoff safeguards. As evidence grows, those scopes expand. They are a venture-backed company working closely with major academic healthcare partners. Their systems are already handling high volumes of patient interactions and are scaling quickly.About the roleAs a Staff Full-Stack Engineer, you will set the technical direction for the core applications that power clinical operations. You will lead architecture across three foundational systems: a real-time operational dashboard for monitoring agent activity, an analytics platform for natural language exploration of healthcare data, and a no-code environment for configuring agent behavior. This role carries significant ownership. You will define engineering standards, design systems for reliability and scale, and build software that handles sensitive clinical data. Correctness, security, and uptime are essential. You will mentor other engineers, shape technical culture, and help maintain a high-performance engineering organization as the team grows. What you’ll doLead architecture and system design across the company’s core operational platformsEstablish standards for code quality, testing, observability, and incident responseDesign real-time infrastructure for monitoring conversations, escalation workflows, and audit trailsDefine technical approaches for natural language access to structured healthcare dataArchitect no-code tools that enable non-technical users to configure AI behaviorsDesign APIs, data models, and caching layers supporting streaming, voice, and multi-channel communicationOwn authentication, authorization, and audit systems aligned with healthcare compliance needsEvaluate build-versus-buy decisions and major platform tradeoffsMentor engineers and create reusable patterns that elevate team-wide engineering qualityCollaborate with AI engineers, clinicians, and customers to translate complex workflows into softwareMaintain shared component libraries, design systems, and development infrastructureWhat we’re looking for7+ years of production full-stack engineering experience at high-performing organizationsExpert-level React and TypeScript skills with deep knowledge of performance and state managementStrong experience building Python backend services and scalable APIsProven ability to design and operate large-scale production systemsDeep understanding of real-time architectures such as WebSockets and event-driven systemsExperience with relational databases, data modeling, query optimization, and cachingTrack record of setting engineering standards and mentoring teammatesExtremely high bar for reliability, testing, and operational excellenceAbility to ship quickly while proactively managing risk and failure modesStrong product judgment and ability to translate ambiguous needs into robust systemsExcellent written and verbal communication across technical and executive audiencesNice to haveExperience in healthcare or other regulated industriesBackground in voice or real-time communication infrastructureExperience building no-code or developer tooling platformsHistory of helping scale engineering organizationsFamiliarity with accessibility requirements in clinical softwareMobile development experienceThere are Senior & Staff levels available
