CNC Machinist / Machine Technician
Job Description
Position SummaryWe are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist/Machine Technician to support machining operations, prototype fabrication, equipment setup, and dimensional inspection activities. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on machining knowledge, experience operating CNC equipment, and a solid understanding of precision measurement and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and support CNC milling and/or turning equipment
Perform machine setup, tooling setup, work offsets, and fixture preparation
Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications
Select appropriate cutting tools, feeds, and speeds for different materials and applications
Support prototype machining, fabrication, and process development
Perform dimensional inspections using precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, and other metrology equipment
Verify machined part quality and maintain inspection records
Troubleshoot machining and dimensional issues
Support preventive maintenance and shop organization
Coordinate with engineering teams on manufacturability and machining improvements
Follow all shop safety and operational procedures
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience operating CNC machines and machining equipment
Strong understanding of machining fundamentals and manufacturing processes
Ability to read mechanical drawings and understand tolerances/GD&T
Experience with precision measurement and inspection techniques
Familiarity with machining materials such as aluminum, copper, stainless steel, and engineering plastics
Strong understanding of G-code and CNC programming concepts
Strong troubleshooting and hands-on mechanical skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with CAM software
Experience with manual mills, lathes
Knowledge of fixture design and tooling selection
Prototype or low-volume manufacturing experience
