Systems Development Engineer, Manufacturing Test Infrastructure, Project Kuiper

We partner with engineering and production teams to bring reliability and repeatability to our systems, increase throughput and accelerate testing. We are looking for a System Development Engineer to optimize tests for Satellite hardware at contract manufacturing sites and Amazon Leo factory locations. Candidate will need to use data analysis to identify opportunities to optimize provisioning and testing processes and partner with design engineering, software teams, and Contract Manufacturer site representatives to implement solutions. You will work across the org with many software and hardware teams identifying requirements, prioritizing critical efforts and providing updates to senior management and stakeholders.Key job responsibilitiesLead and conduct complex system-level analyses across multiple subsystems to evaluate design alternatives and optimize manufacturing test infrastructure architectureDevelop and implement processes to facilitate communication of system design/architecture with partner teams including contract manufacturers, software teams, and hardware engineeringLead technical risk assessments and failure mode identification for manufacturing test systems, establishing test strategies and acceptance criteriaDerive and synthesize requirements for system efficiency, operational excellence, and user experience across the manufacturing test infrastructureIdentify and frame needs for analyses that balance impact and feasibility, conducting trade off studies to optimize test system designLead collaboration across diverse technical teams (software, hardware, RF) to establish design goals and technical specificationsPropose and implement changes to systems and architecture that improve performance, robustness, and extensibilityIdentify and escalate execution and technical dependencies in relation to schedule, managing cross-functional trade-offsBasic QualificationsExperience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructureExperience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, RustExperience with Linux/UnixExperience with CI/CD pipelines build processesPreferred QualificationsExperience with Windows and Linux operating systemsExperience leading process improvementsExperience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, evaluate alternatives and develop processes and tools as needed to support the organizationExperience with embedded softwareExperience troubleshooting and debugging technical systemsExperience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardizationExperience working with contract manufacturers (CMs)Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
