This is a temporary hourly position estimated to last 6 – 12 weeks, with the possibility of being converted into a full-time, direct, long-term position afterward. The work will be on-site in and near Irvine, California. This project requires after-hours migrations, so candidates must be able to work some weekend evening and/or night shifts.ResponsibilitiesTrace, create, run, patch, tag, and manage cablesLabel cables physically and on diagramsDeploy and terminate various types of cable and cross-connections in data centers and at customer offices, which may include fiber, copper, 1G, or 10G cableRack and stack, de-rack and de-stackInventory and document cabling, ports, and equipment with excellent quality assuranceHandle and help lift and move equipment and cabinetsTrain and supervise junior technicians and workersPerform on-site troubleshooting at locations in and near Orange CountyPerform other job duties as neededPhysical Requirements of the RoleMust be able to safely lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis without assistanceMust be able to safely lift heavier equipment with team assistance or use of appropriate lifting equipment (dollies, carts)Must be able to reach, bend, and crouch to access equipment in tight or elevated spaces, including server racks at floor and ceiling levels.Must be capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the data center environment for extended periods of time.Must be able to work on ladders or platforms to manage cable runs or hardware in elevated racks.Must be able to do repeated hand and arm movements for cable management, hardware installation, and equipment maintenance.Must be able to use proper body mechanics while adhering to safety guidelines to prevent injuryOther Required QualificationsExtensive experience and knowledge of cablingProblem-solving, adaptability, proactivity, and the willingness to take on and learn from a wide range of tasks as neededPreferred QualificationsFiber splicing experienceGeneral network knowledge including, TCP/IP, Layer 2 (VLAN), WAPs, 802.11x, routing, switchingBICSI, C-7, and/or forklift certificationCertifications by CompTIA, Cisco, Fortinet, VMWare, or possessing equivalent knowledge
