Sr Estimator - Transmission - Remote
ABOUT THE ROLE The Sr Estimator is an integral part of the electrical construction process and ensures competitiveness, profitability, and growth while maintaining and growing relationships with internal and external customers and clients. The Sr Estimator is responsible for preparing complete cost estimates as well as responses to Requests for Proposals (RFP's) for electric transmission, substation, and distribution construction projects.Essential FunctionsPrepare complete labor and material cost estimates - Outline and prepare responses to RFP's and RFQ's, Follow company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for Estimating, Develop strategies for being awarded projects, Help maintain and develop estimating database and Develop and maintain effective relationships with clientsAct as a first point of contact for members of the Estimating team - Assist other members of the Estimating team with cost estimates and bid package preparation, Review and evaluate Estimating staff performance and Mentor and train Estimator Trainees and EstimatorsMaintain bid log and report to corporate Estimating departmentPrepare bills of material and other information for use by PurchasingDetermine constructability requirements via field walk-downs with customer, subcontractor, and construction personnelCoordinate with Project Management - Compare various project documents for accuracy and consistency as well as data entry, Perform field take-offs/evaluations for estimate preparation and Assist project management in preparing and submitting change ordersPerform risk identification and mitigation planning for estimate preparationParticipate in estimate review process with internal and external stakeholdersAssist construction personnel throughout the project lifecycle in tracking and understanding of cost estimatesFollow-up at the end of projects to close any loops in the estimating process to include invoicing and cost trackingOther duties as assignedRegular and predictable attendanceEssential functions of this position are to be performed at a Company-designated office or field locationUnderstand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standardsABOUT YOU QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar field; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degreeMinimum 5 years of transmission, substation, & distribution construction estimating experienceKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesProven ability to prepare conceptual, design-build, and EPC estimates based upon minimal design input from engineeringSolid knowledge of national electrical codeProven ability to read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, etc. plans and specifications to include blueprints, proposals, and other relevant documentsProven ability to prepare work plans for transmission, substation, & distribution scopes of workSolid knowledge of construction means & methods for transmission, substation, & distribution scopes of workRisk identification & mitigation planning for estimate preparationAdvanced knowledge of transmission, substation, & distribution long lead equipment, materials, and methods of installationSolid knowledge of engineered material costsProficient with Microsoft Office applications, Bluebeam, Accubid and/or other estimating softwareExcellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and communication skillsTeam player mentalitySelf-driven with the ability to stay on-task for extended periods of time while working independentlyWHAT WE OFFER Compensation & BenefitsSalary $107,763.00-$134,615.00 / yearCommensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith.
