Business Development Assistant
Job SummaryThe Business Development Assistant provides a supportive role in all aspects of business development in alignment with firm-wide strategies, priorities, and practices. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to build a strong foundation in legal business development, gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced professional services environment, and grow within a dynamic BD team.This role reports to the Chief Business Development and Marketing Officer and works collaboratively as an integral part of the Business Development and Marketing team. This position is non-exempt and requires four days in the office with one remote day. This position can sit in the Houston, Texas or Atlanta, Georgia office.Duties and ResponsibilitiesResearch & Business IntelligenceConduct market research to support business development initiatives, including research on potential clients, industries, and competitors using internal databases and online and third-party resources.Assist in tracking external business opportunities and partnerships, such as collaborations with industry associations and business organizations.Data & Records ManagementCreate, update and maintain client marketing lists, including pulling reports from email marketing automation software and following up with attorneys to ensure contact information and list segmentation are accurate and current.Compile and maintain a list of transaction and litigation matters for departmental promotional use.Pull and format reports from internal systems to support BD tracking.Update and maintain attorney bios, practice group descriptions, and other website or proposal content as directed.Proposals, Pitches & PresentationsAssist in drafting, formatting and proofreading proposal documents, RFP responses, and pitch presentations under attorney and CBDMO guidance.Assist with maintaining the proposals tracker, including win/loss outcomes.Events, Conferences & SponsorshipsSupport the BD team in monitoring event, conference, and sponsorship deliverables, including tracking due dates and proactively following up to help ensure timely submission of required materials.Assist with maintaining the sponsorship and conference tracker.Provide scheduling and logistics support.Attend events, conferences and sponsorships as needed.Directories, Rankings & SurveysAssist with the coordination of directory and ranking submissions (such as Chambers, Legal 500 and Best Lawyers) in close collaboration with attorneys and CBDMO.Assist with the coordination of third-party surveys in close collaboration with the CBDMO and relevant administrative departments.General Administrative SupportPerform administrative duties in support of the BD and Marketing department as assigned.Assist with other projects and responsibilities as directed by the CBDMO.Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesBachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field required0–1 year of professional or internship experience preferredPrior exposure to professional services or legal industry is beneficial but not requiredExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyStrong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentWillingness to take direction and work collaboratively as part of a team, while demonstrating initiative and a proactive attitudeEagerness to learn the business of law and professional services marketingHigh degree of professionalism, discretion, and a solid work ethicPositive, can-do attitude with a willingness to take on tasks at all levels, including administrative and support workProficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with CRM platforms (e.g., InterAction, Salesforce) preferred.Flexibility to travel to other offices and marketing events as needed (typically less than 10%)Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerOccasional lifting of event materials may be requiredMust be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilitiesBenefits and PerksCompetitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short & long term disability and other ancillary benefitsGenerous Firm contribution to employee HSA Accounts each year, as well as, matching and profit sharing in our Firm’s 401(k) profit sharing programCentral downtown location and choice of firm-paid garage parking or firm-paid monthly transportation allowanceDigital family planning platform providing support through various life journeys and Backup Care BenefitGenerous paid time off and 11 paid holidaysWellness Program that includes reimbursement for qualifying fitness and wellness expenses, GoPivot wellness platform, TelaDoc resources for physical and mental health appointment, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP)Quarterly training program for professional developmentEmployee led Social Committee with regular social events and monthly community service opportunitiesCompetitive salary that reflects your experience and skillsPlease note: We are not accepting recruiter submissions for this position.
