Job Description: Azure DevOps Platform Engineer (Governance & Enablement)Location: Tampa, FL (REMOTE)Type: 1 year ContractDuration: Long-term engagementOverviewWe are seeking an experienced Azure DevOps Platform Engineer to help build, standardize, and govern DevOps platforms across the organization. This role will focus on platform enablement, governance, onboarding processes, and sandbox environment creation, supporting engineering teams in adopting modern DevOps practices.This is a highly impactful, build-from-scratch opportunity where the ideal candidate can establish structure, bring order to decentralized projects, and enable teams with scalable and secure DevOps solutions.Key Responsibilities🔹 Platform Governance & StandardsDefine and implement DevOps governance standards across Azure DevOps and GitHub environmentsEstablish processes for intake, onboarding, and platform adoptionCreate and maintain documentation, knowledge libraries, and best practicesEnsure platform compliance with internal security and governance requirements🔹 DevOps Platform AdministrationConfigure and manage Azure DevOps (ADO) and GitHub Enterprise environmentsManage repositories, pipelines, permissions, and lifecycle processesDefine and enforce standards for:Repository structures & branching strategiesCI/CD pipelines and approval workflowsArtifact and dependency management🔹 Sandbox Environment EnablementDesign and implement sandbox/non-production environments for development teamsEstablish guardrails around:Access controlsSecurity and data protectionCost management and resource usageBuild repeatable, scalable processes for provisioning sandbox environments🔹 Engineering Enablement & SupportPartner with engineering teams to understand environments and provide tool accessSupport adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD best practicesCreate reusable templates, “golden paths,” and onboarding resourcesProvide ongoing guidance and support to development teams🔹 Process Improvement & AdoptionDrive standardization across multiple existing tools and projectsHelp bring structure to decentralized or unsanctioned DevOps effortsMonitor adoption, usage, and effectiveness of platform standardsIdentify and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and scalabilityRequired Qualifications3+ years of experience in DevOps platform engineering, administration, or enablementHands-on experience with:Azure DevOps (ADO)GitHub / GitHub EnterpriseExperience creating or supporting DevOps platform governance frameworksExperience building onboarding processes, workflows, or developer enablement programsFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM, etc.)Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with engineers and stakeholdersExcellent communication skills (must be fluent in English)
